"My wife, daughter, and I recently had the pleasure of a day on board the Garfield, which is a wonderful catamaran owned and operated by Lorna and Bruce Hancocks, and their skipper, Rodney.
We left Simpson Bay lagoon at around 9:30a.m., and were soon skimming through the waves of the ocean. The boat, under the expert hand of Rod, handled the swells beautifully, and we were comfortable and content at all times. Rodney's first mate, Kate, ensured that we had plenty of water and drinks, and we were soon snorkelling in beautiful waters, teaming with fish and other marine animals.
Lunch on Tintamarre followed. It was truly memorable, as it was preceeded by a unique mudbath. The meal was delicious and timely, as we had built up quite an appetite snorkelling and swimming in the crystal clear waters around the island.
A tour of three further beaches and snorkelling sites followed, all at our choice, and each of them was lovely, exciting, and interesting.
A highlight of the day was champagne for us - it was my birthday that day, and the owners of the Garfield had laid it in especially for the occasion. All of us guests on board thoroughly enjoyed the surprise, and I, in particular, appreciated the thoughtfulness behind the gesture.
The professionalism, hospitality, and comfort afforded us on September 29, 2006 was without equal. The owners (through the booking process), the captain and first mate, the boat, the food, and the refreshments were all first class. It made my birthday very special, and one which I will not forget.
I can, without any hesitation, strongly recommend to any vacationers to St. Maarten/St. Martin, that they consider a day excursion on the Garfield. They will truly have a great experience.
